Respiratory Care Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Care Specialist to join our team at Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services.
About the Role:
- This per diem, night shift position involves working collaboratively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up and monitoring oxygen machines, including continuous positive airway pressure and bi-level positive airway pressure for cardiopulmonary patients.
- Maintaining and ordering supplies for these machines as needed.
- Providing respiratory care and therapies to patients who have orders for such services.
- Assessing patients who are newly admitted or referred to respiratory services for appropriate respirator care services and therapies.
- Assessing new admissions for pneumonia reduction strategies.
- Managing and supporting residents on ventilator care.
- Monitoring patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and labs. Consults with physicians as needed.
- Documenting assessments, care services, and therapies in the patient's electronic medical record.
- Participating in patient care planning as necessary.
- Educating patients about cardiopulmonary issues and care, including effects of smoking, smoking cessation, asthma, and medications.
- Teaching patients how to use inhalers and other devices.
- Assisting with education of nurses and nursing staff on cardiopulmonary issues and respiratory care.
- Reviewing assigned referrals to ensure that care needs can be maintained in the facility.
- Assisting with emergency care of patients when in the facility, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma is required.
- A college degree from an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program is required.
- A valid license from the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board is required.
- The ideal candidate will be dependable, flexible, and able to work well with all nursing personnel, other departments, and have understanding, patience, and tact in working with patients, families, doctors, and others.
- The candidate must be able to make decisions regarding nursing problems.
- The candidate must be able to teach, instruct, and direct orientation, continuing education, and in-services as needed.
- The candidate must read, know, and follow personnel, department, and Facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state, and federal requirements.
- The candidate must have a working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to Long Term Care.
- Long Term Care experience is required.
- The candidate must have a neat professional appearance at all times.
Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
