Job Summary

The Estimator is a key member of our team, responsible for evaluating commercial glass project specifications and drawings. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with project managers and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating and Bidding
    • Reviews specification information and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
    • Computes cost factors, including labor, and prepares estimates for management purposes.
  • Project Coordination
    • Attends pre-bid walk-throughs and contractor meetings.
    • Consults with owners, contractors, vendors, foremen/superintendents, and project managers to develop and communicate estimates.
  • Communication and Relationship Building
    • Makes follow-up calls to clients/contractors to develop and maintain good business relationships.
    • Communicates project details/strategy to project managers and jobsite foremen.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Ensures a safe working environment and full compliance with all Omni, OSHA, State, and Local standards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 1-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend architectural blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Basic math and algebra skills, along with the ability to understand ruler measurements.
  • Proficient in the use of PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, email, and telephone communication.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with arms. Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment for this role includes:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate.
