Job Overview

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) is seeking a highly skilled Infection Prevention Coordinator to join its Healthcare-Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) program. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in overseeing public health surveillance and response to infections associated with healthcare settings.

The HAI/AR program conducts educational activities to prevent and control the emergence of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance in Philadelphia healthcare facilities. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to assess frontline healthcare personnel infection prevention and control practices and develop targeted interventions to address identified gaps.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional work after hours and on weekends may be needed to support program activities. This is a grant-funded position, and continuation of the position is contingent upon sustained funding.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and distribute HAI/AR program outreach materials, including newsletters, social media posts, and campaigns, on various infection prevention and control topics.
  • Identify healthcare settings and professions to target for frontline HCP IPC knowledge and practice assessments.
  • Identify gaps in IPC education, knowledge, and practices; design targeted interventions to address the gaps that were identified.
  • Develop and distribute resources and educational materials to frontline HCP and healthcare facilities.
  • Conduct N95 respirator fit test trainings, and IPC education in healthcare facilities.
  • Track outreach campaigns, trainings, and events in HAI/AR program databases.
  • Support COVID-19 outbreak response in long-term healthcare settings as needed, including entering case reports into the Communicable Disease Management System (CDMS).
Requirements
  • Master's degree in public health, microbiology, nursing, or a related healthcare field strongly preferred.
  • Public Health experience conducting surveillance activities required.
  • Valid driver's license and availability of a personal vehicle required.
