Job Title: Director of Defense Engineering

Roush Industries is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Defense Engineering to lead our engineering teams in the Defense organization. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing objectives and long-range goals for engineering that align with our defense business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to guide engineering teams through development, maintain team capabilities and competencies, and engage with customers on multiple design-led programs.
  • Establish goals and standards of performance, create budgets, staffing plans, and short and long-term strategic product and technology roadmaps/plans.
  • Direct the continuous improvement of the organization in terms of personnel, training, process definition/execution, and discipline.
  • Monitor, track, and report on engineering department regarding engineering efficiency, engineering discipline specific metrics, regular product and project updates.
  • Foster teamwork across the organization and lead conflict/problem resolution within the group.
  • Engage with customers including periodic presentations to present status of projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading engineers performing electrical, mechanical, software and systems engineering design in the defense industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing an engineering budget.
  • US citizen allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.
  • Experience in CAD/CAM/CAE and PLM supported process improvement and re-engineering in engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of US Department of Defense technical, procurement and product development processes.
  • Experience working with military specifications (MIL-SPECs), ASTM/ASME specifications, and other engineering specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively meet program staffing requirements while managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance up to Top Secret.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering or business.
