About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Wellpath, a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing quality care to underserved populations. As a Physician Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed physician to provide medical care and treatment to inmates in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily sick call and provide emergency care for medical emergencies
  • Perform minor surgical procedures, repair lacerations, and remove sutures
  • Treat and manage non-psychotic behavioral health disorders and provide ongoing care for patients on maintenance doses of non-psychotic medications
  • Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities, document findings using the S.O.A.P.E. method, and attend quarterly Quality Management meetings
Requirements
  • Master's degree in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs
  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience
  • Unrestricted current license, certification or registration in state of practice
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
