Surgical Intensivist

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Intensivist to join our team at Charleston Area Medical Center. As a key member of our surgical intensive care unit, you will provide critical care to surgical patients, working closely with a team of surgical intensivists to develop and implement management plans. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service line, working with a variety of surgical patients, including post-op and peri-op complex general and colorectal surgical patients.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality patient care, including bedside procedures such as arterial catheter placement and central venous catheter insertion.
  • Collaborating with surgical residents and other trainees to develop and implement care plans.
  • Participating in the development of practice management guidelines for use across the institution.
  • Contributing to research focused on acute care surgery and surgical critical care.

Requirements include:

  • ICU experience, with a certification in critical care preferred.
  • Experience providing care for surgical patients.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
