Job Summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Sonographer II PRN- CV Surgery to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment and performing diagnostic testing to produce high-quality images for patient diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic testing and care of patients appropriate to age.
  • Assist the physician to diagnose heart defects or the exact cause of impaired blood circulation.
  • Explain the procedure to the patients.
  • Assist in the operation of ultrasound equipment and records results.
  • Adjust parameters on equipment and reviews calibrations to assure that scans are reproducible under similar conditions.
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment to assure proper working conditions.
  • Attends continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances.
  • Demonstrate the use of ultrasound equipment and techniques to assist with the education of students, nurses, residents, patients, and physicians.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by the CCI.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or its equivalent.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Two year experience in diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound.
