Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and treat patients under order from the referring physician, developing effective treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing efficiency.
  • Analyze diagnostic tools and results to identify accurate diagnoses and develop treatment options.
  • Create and carry out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs, teaching patients to make sounds, improve voices, and maintain fluency.
  • Help individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language, working with adults and children to develop and strengthen muscles used to swallow.
  • Counsel individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders, communicating diagnoses, test results, and available treatments in a clear and concise manner.
  • Exercise compassion when working with individuals frustrated by their difficulties, adjusting treatment plans as required and identifying alternative ways to help.
  • Maintain accurate notes on treatment and progress, listening to concerns and symptoms of clients to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
Qualifications:
  • Current California SLP license
