About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Shelter Support Worker to join our team at Making Opportunity Count Inc. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families in Central Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately maintain a shift report log and document any events during the shift.
  • Respond to shelter residents and forward them to the appropriate person or department.
  • Guide people to processing stations and assist emergency teams in ensuring families are orderly and reporting to the correct areas.
  • Help residents with appointment keeping.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual Haitian or Spanish capacity is a strong plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, punctual, and skilled at time-management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and creatively with adults and children of varying ages.
  • Experience with emergency shelter programs for homeless and individuals including individuals who are experiencing homelessness, or mental illness.
  • High-level of comfort working within a diverse and multicultural population.
  • Ability to follow direction and guidance and work as a member of a team.
