Job Overview: The Culinary Specialist assists the Chef or General Manager in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook various food items in accordance with established recipes, daily menus, and guidance from supervisors.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of kitchen equipment, appliances, and workspaces.
  • Manage food station operations by completing station checklists, maintaining temperature logs, and ensuring proper signage.
  • Order food supplies and kitchen equipment based on projected needs.
  • Monitor meal preparation processes to ensure cost-effective practices.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and promptly report any concerns to management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completion of partial High School education is required; a High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
  • Knowledge of culinary practices.
  • Certification in Food Safety and strong hygiene practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate issues to management effectively.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to move around on foot to complete tasks.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and push items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the work shift and frequently climb stairs.
  • Ability to endure temperature variations in different kitchen areas.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing work-related documents in English.
