Role Summary:
The Weld Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing welding operations to guarantee product integrity and quality, while continuously striving for resource optimization and improvement. This position operates on the 3rd Shift from 10 PM to 6:30 AM, with a starting pay of $32.50/hr plus a $0.75 shift premium.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjust and maintain robotic welding applications, specifically using Fanuc and Nachi technologies.
  • Manage and maintain backup systems for welding equipment, particularly PLC AB systems.
  • Oversee welding schedules, including setup, changeover, and parameters for MIG, spot, and projection welding applications.
  • Enhance weld fixture setups to improve weld quality and component positioning according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot and repair welding machinery.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at boosting plant efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Engage in 8D Discipline Reports to execute corrective and preventive actions for processes or products.
  • Update and maintain welding PFMEA documentation as needed.
  • Ensure accurate records of welding control parameters are validated and maintained.
  • Assist in training personnel on welding operations and methodologies.
  • Optimize the use of welding consumables for enhanced performance.
  • Support the plant's quality management system.
  • This job description is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a community college or technician school program in Welding Engineering Technology, or certification as a Weld Technician from a recognized institution, or a minimum of four years of relevant experience in a welding manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with PLC programming, particularly Allen Bradley, is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with welding standards and practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines and protocols.
  • Highly motivated, service-oriented individual with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent internal customer service skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical capability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
