Chief Estimator

As a seasoned professional in the construction sector, we are seeking a skilled Chief Estimator to lead our estimating and project management department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General

• Manage and lead the estimating/project management department to achieve business objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of estimating/project management, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of projects.
• Assess project performance and provide guidance to staff to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Create and track market share within the area and report on findings to inform business decisions.
• Train, coach, and mentor personnel as needed to ensure they have the necessary skills to excel in their roles.

Financial Management

• Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly costs using HeavyJob and JDE cost reports to ensure accurate financial tracking.
• Review cost reports with the team to understand variances and identify areas for improvement.
• Able to accurately review project cost to completes for submittal to WCC Accounting.

Estimation Management

• Procure bid packages to bid and/or assign to estimators to ensure timely and accurate delivery of estimates.
• Review and approve all estimates that go out to ensure they meet business standards.
• Negotiate, review, and approve contracts, purchase orders, and change orders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Foster strong relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
• Evaluate market conditions, including the capabilities of the market's competitors, to inform business decisions.
• Develop and maintain bidding strategies and processes to ensure competitive advantage.

Project Management

• Review and approve monthly estimates and invoices to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage accounts receivable to ensure prompt payment and minimize bad debt.
• Review and edit all monthly job cost reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Manage the project cost throughout the project duration to ensure budget and schedule are met.
• Enforce contractual responsibilities and resolve disputes that may arise to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Ensure smooth task coordination between customers, project managers, and support staff to ensure project success.
• Manage job closeout processes to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.

Requirements:

5-10 years of experience in estimating/project management in the construction sector.
