Position Overview:

Shift: 12-Hour Night Shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM with bi-weekly weekend rotations.

Unit Details:
Telemetry Unit
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; phlebotomy is a plus.
Bed Capacity: 18 - Nurse Patient Ratios: 4-5 during days, 5-6 during nights.

  • Mandatory Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; phlebotomy is advantageous.
  • Common Patient Diagnoses:
Stroke, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), etc. Includes post-heart catheterization patients and arrhythmias.
  • Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Cath Lab post-recovery (femoral/radial) and stroke care is highly preferred. Must possess drip management experience. Familiarity with Meditech is beneficial.
  • Drip Management:
RN's are not required to titrate drips. Common titratable medications include Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Dopamine.
  • Telemetry Monitoring:
Yes, there is telemetry on this unit. Monitor technicians are responsible for central telemetry, and RN's are required to sign off on strips.

  • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor:
The Charge Nurse has a patient assignment, while the NSO does not.
  • Nurse Aides:
Yes, the ratio depends on patient acuity, typically 2 CNAs based on acuity.
  • Equipment:
BiPAP, High Flow.

  • Shifts & Scheduling:
12-hour shifts. Scheduled based on departmental needs. Weekend commitment: every other weekend.

  • Holiday Requirements:
Participation in holiday rotation is expected.
  • On-Call or Standby Requirements:
Not applicable for agency staff; however, core staff may have such requirements.
  • Floating:
May float to ICU/MS/ER within scope of practice.
  • Scrub Color:
Any color.

  • Department-Specific Orientation:
Yes, consisting of 2 shifts of 12 hours each.

Contract Details:
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
Contract Duration: 91 weeks.
