Seeking a skilled Master Machinist to join our fabrication team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As an EDM Machinist, you will play a crucial role in manufacturing spacecraft, undersea hardware, and other critical systems. You will work closely with engineers and designers to ensure project success.

About the Job
  • Setting up, programming, and operating wire and RAM EDM equipment
  • Performing in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments
  • Communicating with engineers and designers to collaborate on complex designs
  • Achieving proficiency with quality processes and recording work performed in the ERP system
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with CAD/CAM programming software
  • Competency in general computer functions such as email and file directories
  • 5+ years of experience with set-up, programming, and operation of EDM machining equipment
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Experience with CNC milling and turning
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • A current security clearance at the Secret or Top-Secret level
