Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team in Boston, MA. As an OT, you will work with patients of all ages who are overcoming physical, mental, or developmental challenges that limit their ability to perform daily activities.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Conduct thorough assessments to understand patient needs, strengths, limitations, and goals.
    • Evaluate physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities using standardized tests, interviews, and observations.
    • Develop comprehensive evaluation reports outlining areas of improvement, potential goals, and required interventions.
  • Developing Treatment Plans:
    • Create personalized treatment plans based on assessment results, addressing specific patient needs.
    • Set measurable goals for improvement in areas such as self-care, mobility, work performance, and cognitive skills.
    • Recommend therapeutic activities and exercises tailored to the patient's abilities and progress.
  • Providing Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Implement individualized therapy programs to improve motor skills, cognitive function, sensory processing, and social interaction.
    • Use activities such as exercises, therapeutic games, fine motor skills tasks, and adaptive strategies to enhance patients' independence.
    • Work with patients on daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, cooking, and using adaptive equipment for mobility.
    • Teach patients new ways to complete tasks and daily activities, including recommendations for ergonomic practices and assistive devices.
  • Patient Education and Support:
    • Educate patients and their families about the rehabilitation process, techniques, and strategies for enhancing functional independence.
    • Provide guidance on using adaptive equipment and tools.
    • Offer emotional support and encouragement throughout the recovery process.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
    • Participate in care planning meetings and share insights about patient progress and therapy requirements.
    • Regularly communicate with families and caregivers to update them on progress and offer guidance on supporting the patient's therapy goals at home.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patients' progress, therapy sessions, and any modifications made to treatment plans.
    • Document and report patient progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Complete necessary reports and update care teams on patient progress, challenges, and success.
  • Rehabilitation and Recovery:
    • Monitor and reassess patient progress regularly to ensure therapy goals are being met.
    • Adjust treatment plans as necessary based on patient feedback and progress.
    • Help patients transition from therapy to independent living, ensuring they are prepared to manage daily tasks outside of a clinical environment.
  • Advocacy and Community Resources:
    • Advocate for patients to ensure access to necessary resources and support services.
    • Provide patients and families with information about community programs, support groups, and other resources that may assist in their rehabilitation.
  • Maintaining Continuing Education:
    • Stay current with new developments in occupational therapy by participating in workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses.
    • Ensure licensure and certifications remain up-to-date.
