Insurance Claims Specialist

KaleidAScope Inc. is seeking an experienced Insurance Claims Specialist to process and manage insurance claims in our therapeutic office setting.
Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying insurance information, preparing insurance claims for submission, and handling patient billing and invoicing inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Claim Verification: Verify insurance information and obtain necessary pre-authorizations or referrals before services are provided.
- Claim Submission: Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims to third-party payers using the correct codes for mental health/therapy services.
- Bill Follow-up: Follow up with patients on unpaid bills and arrange payment plans or refer patients to collection agencies if needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in medical billing practices.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, medical billing, or a related field preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge: Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Kareo, TherapyNotes, or similar platforms); knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems; understanding of insurance policies, claims processing, and managed care systems.
- Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CBCS) is a plus; experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and online billing portals.
