Job Summary:

The Dental Hygienist is a licensed dental auxiliary who specializes in preventive dental care, treating and educating patients in the control and prevention of oral disease such as caries and periodontal disease through proper oral hygiene instructions and regular professional care. This role involves performing dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, scaling and root planing, radiographs, and dental sealants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide preventive dental care to patients, including dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, and oral hygiene instructions.
  • Treat and educate patients in the control and prevention of oral disease.
  • Perform scaling and root planing, radiographs, and dental sealants as needed.
  • Document patient data and dental history.
  • Relate patient data to the dentist and provide effective communication with patients, co-workers, and residents.

Requirements:
  • Graduation from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Licensed in the State of Ohio upon completion of a minimum of two years of school.
  • Current radiology certificate with the Ohio Dental Board.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, co-workers, and residents.
  • Ability to relate patient data to the dentist and provide effective communication.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and CDT codes.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with dental software.

Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently.

Compensation:
$33.08/hr - $39.70/hr
