Principal Mechanical Engineer

Dewberry is a leading professional services firm with a strong presence in the market. Our team of experts provides high-quality services to clients nationwide. We are seeking a skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Raleigh, NC, and Orlando, FL, offices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing thermal infrastructure systems and collaborating with a team of engineers on various projects. They will also work with structural, civil, electrical, and other disciplines to provide comprehensive services to clients.
Responsibilities- Provide high-level direction to senior mechanical engineering staff to ensure successful project completion.
- Supervise mechanical discipline managers within an office or business unit.
- Assist the Chief Engineer in leading the MEPS Service Line's mechanical community of practice.
- Ensure mechanical discipline managers apply and comply with corporate quality management processes.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight on project work involving electrical engineering.
- Lead the development of office mechanical standards and coordinate them across offices.
- Engineer of Record on select projects as needed.
- Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions on technical and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with client/project managers and department managers to resolve mechanical engineering conflicts.
- Experience in designing institutional, educational, healthcare, laboratory, and military projects.
- Proven history of solid design work, meeting project deadlines and budgets, and working well in a team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer's license, with existing licensure in NC and/or VA preferred.
- 25+ years of technical experience in designing thermal distribution systems, central utility plants, and/or building mechanical systems.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or drafting, as well as pipe stress modeling, is a plus.
