Float Pool Responsibilities:
The Float Pool consists of highly skilled registered nurses who are adaptable and proficient in multiple specialties. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will float between critical care units, including ICU, PACU, ED, and other medical and surgical areas. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments by analyzing various data sources and synthesizing information to inform care decisions.
- Develop tailored care plans based on individual patient assessments and trends within patient populations.
- Support and empower patients and their families throughout the healthcare journey, from wellness to end-of-life care.
- Advocate for patients' rights and provide guidance to resolve any concerns.
- Anticipate and address the ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients to optimize care outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions and assist team members with record-keeping.
- Evaluate documentation outcomes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in assessing patients' educational needs and measuring the effectiveness of educational interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Communicate effectively and foster cooperative relationships with colleagues across various disciplines.
- Stay informed about unit initiatives and integrate findings into practice.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for fellow healthcare professionals.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous education by maintaining a record of professional development activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of nursing experience in critical care settings such as ICU or ED is required. Candidates must possess active certifications in BLS and ACLS. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred, or an Associate's Degree with a commitment to obtain a BSN within a specified timeframe.
