Position Summary

The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the surgical team by ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures. This position encompasses a variety of technical responsibilities aimed at supporting surgical operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the preparation and turnover of operating rooms in accordance with established protocols and departmental standards.
  2. Engage in diverse surgical cases by supporting surgeons within the surgical field, which includes:
  • Setting up the operating room for surgical interventions and organizing sterile areas, instruments, and equipment according to established procedures and physician preferences.
  • Handling and maintaining surgical instruments to prevent damage.
  • Assessing patient, physician, and procedural requirements to determine setup, equipment, and supply needs.
  • Communicating effectively with the surgical team to ensure comprehensive preparedness.
  • Seeking guidance for procedural assistance based on personal expertise.
  • Managing and labeling all specimens appropriately.
  • Contributing to the update and maintenance of physician preference cards.
Participate in the restocking, resupplying, and cleaning of operating rooms and sterile areas to promote efficient and safe departmental operations.Serve as a mentor to students, providing orientation on the roles and responsibilities of a Surgical Technician.Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
