As a Merchandise Handler, your role will encompass a variety of tasks within a warehouse environment, focusing on the safe and efficient management of products using specialized equipment for receiving, sorting, storing, distributing, and overseeing product flow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precisely picking and packing orders in accordance with established protocols.
  • Restocking picking bins with products sourced from reserve storage.
  • Accurately sorting, counting, and receiving all merchandise.
  • Safely transporting products to and from pallet racks utilizing powered material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, order selectors, and powered pallet jacks).
  • Efficiently working with conveyors to construct pallets of cartons for shipment.
  • Loading and unloading trucks.
  • Organizing and optimizing warehouse storage space.
  • Employing a scanner to guide work processes (picking, packing, receiving, moving).
  • Utilizing hands and fingers for handling tasks; frequently reaching overhead with hands and arms; using hearing to detect safety hazards and instructions.
  • Safely lifting and moving boxes, products, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds consistently.
  • Engaging in physical activities such as lifting, bending, standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling during shifts.
  • Exhibiting close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception while performing warehouse duties.
  • Working overtime as needed based on business requirements.
  • Following instructions promptly, safely, and accurately.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Communicating effectively and comprehending basic written and oral instructions in English, as well as interpreting documents (e.g., safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions).
  • Demonstrating adaptability in daily task assignments.

Qualifications for Success:

Ideal candidates will be self-driven individuals aged 18 and above, capable of completing training and obtaining certification in their designated area. Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to accurately perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • A high school diploma or GED, with at least 1 year of relevant experience (or a combination of education and experience) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with RF (radio frequency) scanners and basic computer skills is advantageous.

Essential Working Conditions:

  • Regular exposure to loud noises.
  • Occasional work at elevated heights.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures.
  • Working in a dusty environment.
  • Potential exposure to strong scents related to products.
  • May be required to navigate narrow aisles or trailers.
