Job Summary

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Hospitalist to join our team. As a key member of our Division of Neonatology, you will provide advanced neonatal care to critically ill newborns and lead our team in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide frontline care to patients in the neonatal ICU, including pre-rounding, work rounds with the clinical team, and safe handoff at change of shift.
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and lead neonatal resuscitations, demonstrating expertise in common neonatal care procedures.
  • Develop and maintain competency in procedures such as endotracheal intubation, thoracotomy tube placement, and peripheral arterial line placement.
  • Provide neonatal care during inter- and intra-hospital transport of critically ill newborns.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest neonatal care practices through local certification in therapeutic hypothermia and neonatal transport.
  • Document critical changes and management of newborns, as well as procedures, in a complete and timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate billing for procedural, resuscitation, or transport services rendered.
  • Participate in divisional educational activities to maintain competency in current neonatal care.
  • Collaborate with the Neonatal Performance Improvement Coordinating Group (PICG) and leadership to identify quality improvement issues and participate in unit projects.
Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree
  • Licensed in the state of Maryland
  • Graduate of an Accredited Pediatric Residency Program
  • BC/BE American Board of Pediatrics
