Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Primary Care Physician Assistant to join our team at Interior Community Health Center. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated healthcare professional to provide high-quality patient care in a rural setting.
About the Role
As a Primary Care Physician Assistant, you will work collaboratively with our medical staff to deliver comprehensive primary and preventive health care services to patients of all ages. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct outpatient care, including screening, examining, diagnosing, managing, and treating physical disease, injuries, and medical disorders;
- Ordering and interpreting routine laboratory analysis and x-rays, as well as preparing case histories;
- Recognizing serious illnesses and conditions, and referring patients to physicians or other health professionals as needed;
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of services, according to policy;
- Participating in after-hours call coverage, ensuring continuity of patient care with physician backup;
- Coordinating with centers and community providers to deliver integrated comprehensive primary care services;
- Supporting clinical support staff, and participating in continuous quality improvement activities;
- Remaining current with standards of primary health care practice, and adhering to the statutes and regulations of the State of Alaska's Medical and Nursing Boards.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies, or a Doctorate degree in Nursing;
- Licensure in the State of Alaska as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant-Certified;
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner board certification in family medicine;
- Current DEA and certification in BLS;
- Experience in delivering services to medically underserved populations and cultural competency;
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records.

We are looking for a candidate who:
- Possesses considerable knowledge of methods of general medicine and primary health care;
- Is able to work efficiently with electronic medical records and other clinically required technology;
- Holds excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Can organize and prioritize tasks effectively;
- Is able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Salary Information
The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. A competitive benefits package is also offered.
