Ryder System is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Newburgh, New York. As a leading provider of transportation and logistics solutions, Ryder offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanical repair.

As a Diesel Mechanic at Ryder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles. With a competitive salary ranging from $1442.80 to $36.07 per hour, plus additional benefits, you can expect a rewarding compensation package.

About the Job:

This full-time position requires three years or more of relevant work experience, preferably with heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment. You must have a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, be able to obtain CDL within six months after hire, and pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.

You will perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics, and complex repairs. Your expertise will also extend to facility maintenance duties, interacting with customers/drivers, and utilizing key functions of the Shop Management System.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience;
  • Three years or more of relevant work experience, preferably with heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment;
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A;
  • Able to obtain CDL within six months after hire;
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, and Ryder road test;
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance and basic diagnostics;
  • Familiarity with computer skills, such as PC, Windows, and mouse;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work unsupervised on most tasks and act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels;
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.;
  • All other certification as required by location.
