Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Manager oversees skilled trades personnel to achieve the goals of the maintenance division in a dynamic, high-output, unionized manufacturing setting. The chosen individual will facilitate safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives while driving throughput enhancements and coordinating both professional and emergency maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, including both hourly staff and supervisory roles, on World Class Manufacturing methodologies for effective problem resolution and corrective action execution.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of maintenance strategies, including time-based maintenance (TBM), condition-based maintenance (CBM), and dynamic maintenance (DM).
  • Influence key performance indicators (KPIs) such as mean time between failure (MTBF) and mean time to repair (MTTR), ensuring equipment is maintained in optimal condition while continuously improving performance.
  • Address production-related challenges, including throughput and downtime issues, in collaboration with the Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS) when necessary.
  • Supervise skilled trades personnel directly, fostering a culture of waste reduction through the application of World Class Manufacturing principles, including Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Professional Maintenance (PM), and Quality Maintenance (QM).
  • Lead and actively participate in kaizen initiatives aimed at enhancing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and identifying waste reduction opportunities through cost deployment strategies.
Qualifications

*Candidates must be able to work any shift.*

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial automation, with project management experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work any shift and overtime as necessary.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities to interact with various levels of personnel across the organization, from hourly employees to senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to cultivate effective business relationships with plant leadership and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop skilled trades personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts and/or weekends.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature environments and around heavy machinery.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols, including wearing necessary protective equipment.
  • Physical capability to stand or walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and perform tasks requiring climbing.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Background in leading maintenance teams within a unionized environment.
  • Green Belt, Red X, or Six Sigma training.
  • Familiarity with various technical systems, including controls, robotics, drives, and communication systems.
  • Understanding of World Class Manufacturing pillar methodologies and their implementation.
  • Proficient in Google Suite software applications.
