Job Summary

The Summer Day Camp Assistant Director will be responsible for assisting the Day Camp Director in developing, organizing, and implementing a high-quality day camp program. This individual will supervise staff, monitor policies and procedures, and interact effectively with staff, parents, and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the management and coordination of day camps at assigned locations.
  2. Ensure high-quality programs through implementing and monitoring our school-age curriculum.
  3. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed to ensure adequate and quality supervision of children and effective implementation of quality activities.
  4. Support budget management and ensure program operations within budget.
  5. Maintain compliance with state and local regulations, ensuring that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups, and other organizations related to assigned programs.
  7. Provide staff leadership for annual fundraising campaign and committees as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; one year or more of college preferred.
  • 6 months to one year's related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required.
  • 40 Hours of Child Care Certification preferred.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
