Job Summary

RWJBarnabas Health, a leading integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, is seeking a highly skilled Physician Advisor for a full-time position at one of its esteemed medical centers.

The successful candidate will form a collaborative partnership with local and corporate administration, the medical staff, and the case management department leadership to provide a comprehensive clinical resource management program. This program will encompass utilization management, progression of care management, social work services, and complex discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a standardized practice for Physician Advisor Services, focusing on:
  • Throughput and Length of Stay optimization
  • Observation Hours management
  • Next Site of Care planning and coordination
  • Leading multidisciplinary rounds to ensure seamless care transitions
• Participate in the development and review of medical guidelines and policies aimed at enhancing quality and efficiency of care

Requirements

• Board Certification or Board Eligibility and a valid New Jersey medical license
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience
• Previous experience in utilization management within an acute care setting
• Prior leadership experience required
• CHCQM certification
• Knowledge of CMS regulations and nationally accepted guidelines such as MCG and InterQual
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and set priorities
