PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I – DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION

This position is part of the Post and Bid process. Applications from eligible candidates will be considered, but hiring will be contingent upon the outcome of this process.

The primary work location for this role is the maintenance facility. Under the guidance of the Park Maintenance Chief, the Park Maintenance Worker I is tasked with the upkeep and repair of park amenities, including structures, landscapes, pathways, and trails. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and procuring necessary materials and supplies.
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in optimal condition.
  • Documenting work activities and preparing required reports.
  • Possibly supervising and training seasonal maintenance staff.
  • Flexibility to work at various park locations within the district as needed.

The standard work schedule is Sunday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

This role is not eligible for telecommuting.

All selected candidates must undergo a background check, including Live Scan fingerprinting, prior to employment.

A valid Class C driver's license is required. Applicants must provide their driver's license details, including number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements or restrictions.

Training and Development Assignments may be available.

Working Conditions

Work activities may involve:

  • Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Indoor and outdoor tasks, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noises.
  • Working in remote areas.

Special Requirements

  • A valid California Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
  • Medical clearance must be obtained prior to hiring.

This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing as defined by regulations.
