We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at StandardAero. As an Aviation Manufacturing Specialist, you will be responsible for reading blueprints and specifications to perform machining operations with precision. You will utilize various machine tools, troubleshoot issues, and participate in continuous improvement processes while adhering to safety protocols.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of manufacturing processes, and the ability to collaborate within a team-oriented environment. You will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed
- Computing dimensions and tolerances and measuring and laying out work pieces
- Verifying dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and modifying to achieve expected performance
- Adjusting and setting up machine tools for use by machining tool operators
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods, and processes, metallurgy, and heat-treating
- Working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals, and MSDS labels
- Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems
