Labor and Delivery Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team at Holy Cross Health. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a safe and successful delivery experience for our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate and manage delivery complications
  • Monitor fetal heartbeat and administer medication as needed
  • Coach the mother and assist with any complications that arise during delivery
  • Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal, and emergency obstetric and gynecological procedures
  • Chart patient information via electronic medical records using Cerner and EPIC
  • Coordinate with patient safety nurses and assist with high-risk deliveries
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN); basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association); additional Life Support training as applicable to unit requirements
