Position Overview
The Senior Accounting Specialist will support the Comptroller in managing Accounting and Finance functions. This role involves significant accounting tasks, customer engagement, and collaboration with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Assist in the monthly closing process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Complete the monthly closing of the Accounts Payable module.
- Reconcile relevant balance sheet accounts with the General Ledger.
- Support the establishment, documentation, and ongoing enhancement of all financial processes, workflows, and forms.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Utilize technical skills (Excel, Quickbooks) to develop, maintain, and improve accounting and finance processes.
- Interface with customers and vendors on assigned projects.
- Manage project costs to prevent overruns without appropriate change orders or management notifications.
- Complete necessary documentation as required by management.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure technical resources are scheduled daily.
- Finalize projects for billing, reconciling all parts and time used against the original budget for invoicing.
- Provide weekly status reports on projects to management.
- Deliver high-quality work with thoroughness and accuracy to achieve results, adhering to standards and procedures while maintaining complete records and attention to detail.
- Update customer email addresses for billing purposes.
- Recommend solutions to accounting issues as they arise.
- Produce an acceptable quantity of work while managing priorities and accepting new responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Data entry management and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
