Overview

The Staff VHS Physicians of Michigan is seeking a skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team in a medical office setting. This non-exempt role provides direct nursing care under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Assists in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, history, medication listing, assessing visual acuity, and determining chief complaint.
  • Nursing Support: Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams, and procedures.
  • Administrative Tasks: Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record, answers office phones, and assists with scheduling appointments.
  • Environment Maintenance: Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and visitors.
  • Specialized Consultations: Arranges for specialized consultations and appointments as ordered by physicians.

Education and Certification

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of education.
  • CPR/BLS certification is required.

Experience

Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience working in a physician office.
