Job Title: Residential Roof and Floor Designer

At Lumber Specialties, we are seeking a skilled Residential Roof and Floor Designer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating detailed presentations of building material requirements and systems for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design residential roof and floor systems and produce layouts
  • Discuss changes and corrections with engineers, architects, and contractors prior to and during construction
  • Present, sell, and follow up on new jobs
  • Prepare roof truss and truss joist floor layouts
  • Perform job site inspections
  • Produce materials lists
  • Determine special notes to append contracts
  • Resolve architectural and design discrepancies
  • Assist in the shipping department
Requirements:
  • High school or GED required
  • Associate's degree in civil, architectural, or design-related field may be required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1 year of drafting experience in a construction or building materials-related industry required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient technical writing skills
  • Excellent salesmanship and communication skills
  • Proprietary software, AUTOCAD, computer literate, ability to read technical drawings
