Haywood Regional Medical Center seeks a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in the Histopathology Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing tissue specimens for examination by pathologists, operating laboratory equipment, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare tissue specimens for examination by pathologists, including cutting, staining, and embedding.
- Operate computerized laboratory equipment to process tissue specimens, including fixation, dehydration, and infiltration with wax.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and track routine maintenance and quality controls.
- Label and store specimens, slides, and pathology reports in a secure and organized manner.
- Dispose of hazardous chemical waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science or completion of an accredited histology program preferred.
- Five years of experience in histopathology under the supervision of a pathologist required.
- ASCP Certification as HT or HTL preferred.
