Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at SpiderRock Holdings LLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and architectures. This role will play a critical part in improving our data product and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and support.
  • Build and maintain critical data pipelines for our trading platform, with a focus on automation and scalability.
  • Research and understand various financial data sets and historical trading data.
  • Assist trading desks and clients, including interfacing with data vendors.
  • Automate data collection, validation, reconciliation, and quality checks.
  • Identify and develop new processes within the data request process to enrich data.
  • Own technical projects, including design and development.
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings and communicate status updates.
Requirements:
  • 4-year college degree or advanced degree in a quantitative and/or science field, such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Physics, Statistics, or Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a data engineering role.
  • Proficiency in Python, C#, WPF, SQL, AWS, Hadoop/HDFS, PySpark, Hive, and Airflow.
  • Experience with AWS and cloud computing.
  • Experience in data management and ETL pipelines is a plus.
  • Understanding of large-scale applications in a distributed environment.
  • Financial datasets experience and financial reporting, such as FINA CAT, is a huge plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff.
  • Detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Professional, motivated attitude.
  • Available to work in a hybrid environment (minimum 3+ days in office per week) at our downtown Chicago office.
  • Local to the Chicagoland area or willing to relocate to Chicago.
