Job Summary:

As a skilled MRI Technologist at Kaiser Permanente's Tysons Corner Medical Center, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our imaging team. Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, you will perform a variety of MRI procedures and departmental support functions, ensuring the highest level of technical accuracy and patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and extremities on patients of all ages, adjusting scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize risk factors.
  • Identify gross pathology in the human body and adjust T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.
  • Effectively perform Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, reformats, and MIP imaging, as well as specialized exams such as MRA runoffs and post arthrogram work-ups.
  • Use magnetic resonance and adjust parameters to minimize exposure to patients and yourself, following established protocols and scanning techniques.
  • Photograph, archive, and retrieve images, and identify each patient, review requisitions, and record pertinent data on MRI requisitions.
  • Explain the dangers associated with implants and devices, including pacemakers and loose objects, to individuals entering the MR system room.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent data to responsible parties.
  • Maintain daily patient MRI logs, documenting patient information accurately and ensuring quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize patient care and set priorities, providing critical care first and implementing physician orders.
  • Perform proper computer skills and show working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges, and profiles.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as an MRI technologist, or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI required; however, for new hires in classification, must be obtained within 12 months of hire with one (1) year recent experience as a Radiologic technologist with ARRT required.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Venipuncture competency check-off required within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients, as well as adjust routine to accommodate patient or department needs without affecting departmental flow.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
