Job Title: Patient Transfer Center Nurse Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Patient Transfer Center Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the coordination of patient transfers, ensuring the department is managed in accordance with RWJBH system policies. The Supervisor will prioritize patient transfers based on acuity and support staff in evaluating performance. Key responsibilities include overseeing patient registration, bed placement requests, insurance authorizations, and arranging patient transportation. The Supervisor will also provide overall support to Patient Transfer Center employees, following through on employee inquiries from initial request to resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee patient transfer coordination and ensure departmental compliance with RWJBH policies
  • Prioritize patient transfers based on acuity and support staff in evaluating performance
  • Manage patient registration, bed placement requests, insurance authorizations, and patient transportation arrangements
  • Provide overall support to Patient Transfer Center employees, addressing employee inquiries and concerns
  • Consult and advise management on departmental problems affecting overall operations and recommend corrective actions
  • Participate in employee engagement initiatives, including data compilation and trend discussion with management
  • Evaluate employee performance and reinforce standard evaluation guidelines and daily observation reports
  • Assist in conducting potential employee interviews and recommend candidates for open positions to maintain optimal staffing levels and operational needs
  • Perform clinical coordinator responsibilities during emergent staffing needs
  • Monitor and assess hospital service utilization through administration of review procedures under Federal, State, and hospital guidelines
  • Participate in new hire orientation and special projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • New Jersey Professional Registered Nurse License
  • Valid Driver's License from a USA state
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • 5 years of experience in Healthcare Nursing Management, ED, or ICU patient care setting
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to accurately type at least 40 wpm
