Position Overview:
The Sheet Metal Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of HVAC systems. This role requires adherence to specifications and compliance with relevant trade and building regulations.

The systems handled may include a variety of components such as pipes, fittings, air handling units, control boxes, air conditioning ducts, grease ducts and hoods, ventilators, grills, louvers, and other sheet metal products and apparatus.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze building plans, coordination, and engineering drawings to identify necessary tools and installation sequences.

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols (supporting the implementation of 6S). Ensure personal tools are well-maintained and utilize all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and safety gear appropriately.

- Set up and operate soldering and welding equipment to connect sheet metal components. Assist plumbers, welders, sheet metal workers, or HVAC technicians as required.


- Inspect structures and hanger details to identify potential obstructions that could compromise the integrity of ductwork installations.

- Determine and mark the locations for ductwork, connections, and passage openings in walls and floors using measuring tools, levels, and lasers.

- Cut openings in walls and floors to facilitate duct runs using both hand and power tools.

- Assemble and install sheet metal ducts, fittings, and hangers made from various metals such as iron, steel, copper, brass, and sheet lead, as well as nonmetals like fiberglass, vinyl flex duct, concrete ducts, and plastic using hand tools and power tools.

- Connect ducts and fittings using screws, bolts, S and drives, flanges, solder, solvents, caulking, and weld joints. Smooth seams, joints, or rough surfaces using files, portable grinders, and electric duct hammers. Set up equipment to test duct systems for leaks using air or smoke.


- Install and repair air conditioning units, including air handlers, VAV boxes, fans, and related ventilation equipment.

- Provide temporary sealing for duct ends and protect equipment.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.

- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Technician is preferred.

- Must be trained and qualified to operate machinery such as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, forklifts, etc.
