About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Covanta Projects Incorporated. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for leading and conducting mechanical maintenance repairs on plant equipment, including pumps, fans, compressors, hydraulic systems, gear boxes, motors, piping, and conveyor systems.

Responsibilities
  • Overhaul or maintain operating condition of the facility's industrial production and processing machinery.
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Operate the lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • May assist or direct less experienced mechanics as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required; technical degree preferred.
  • Five years of relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial plant equipment.
  • Ability to provide leadership to the team for daily and routine work direction.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with minimum notice.
  • May be required to work overtime hours during planned and un-planned maintenance outages.
