Position Summary
Registered Nurse (RN), Med Surg Ortho, Full-time, Nights
Shift: 7pm-7am
Offering a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus with a 2-year commitment; restrictions may apply.
General Responsibilities
This position is designed for nurses with over 12 months of experience. The role involves providing and coordinating comprehensive care to patients within a specialized clinical area as an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Nurses will utilize the institution's care delivery models as a framework for professional practice, engage in personal development, and support unit-level goals. Accountability extends to patients, families, and team members for the care delivered, as well as to the nurse manager for overall performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice:
- Demonstrate competency in the care of the specific patient population, practicing independently with solid clinical knowledge and skills.
- Act as a clinical resource for colleagues.
- Integrate evidence-based practices into daily care.
- Function effectively in unit-specific roles, such as triage or emergency response.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care, advocating for patient and family needs.
- Model practices that ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional growth and development.
- Maintain competencies required for the patient care setting.
- Participate in unit-based staff development initiatives.
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new nurses and students.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of orientation and educational activities.
- Complete continuing education as per facility requirements.
Quality and Safety:
- Understand and contribute to unit-based outcomes related to quality measures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, focusing on exceeding service expectations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in safety initiatives.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities in the charge nurse role.
- Engage in team-building activities within the unit.
- Contribute to staff meetings and governance structures.
- Participate in recruitment and retention efforts.
- Provide constructive feedback during peer reviews.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligibility through Compact state agreements.
- Minimum of 12 months of nursing experience with strong clinical skills.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
- Meet all unit-specific certification requirements.
