Position Overview:

This role is designated for a substitute Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) compensated based on days worked.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold valid LPN credentials recognized in the state of Oklahoma.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibit flexibility and effective communication skills with individuals across various age groups and backgrounds; demonstrate strong public relations and educational abilities while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide guidance and support in the care of ill or injured students and staff.
  • Adhere to the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act and apply relevant guidelines from professional organizations.
  • Develop and implement health education initiatives for students in alignment with state regulations.
  • Engage in professional development programs aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge.
  • Disseminate health education materials to students, faculty, and staff, and offer training to personnel.
  • Assist in interpreting health-related issues.
  • Contribute to the formulation of health policies, objectives, and goals for the school district.
  • Document and report any suspected child abuse in accordance with Oklahoma State Laws.
  • Advise school administration on the exclusion and re-admission of students concerning infectious and contagious conditions.
  • Act as a liaison between community agencies and the medical field.
  • Support school officials in ensuring compliance with immunization standards as mandated by law.
  • Facilitate necessary medical referrals.
  • Assist in adapting educational programs to address the health needs of individual students.
  • Participate in the creation of individualized education plans for special education students as required.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of 504 plans for students.
  • Deliver services that promote health and well-being for both students and staff.
  • Support unlicensed personnel in health-related tasks.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive health records as mandated by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Design and oversee procedures for the administration and storage of medications in accordance with established protocols.
  • Engage actively in professional growth activities.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and accountability for assigned responsibilities.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues.
  • Attend and contribute to faculty meetings, professional activities, and serve on committees as necessary.
  • Comply with all district, state, and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional health-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to frequently bend, squat, stand, walk, or ascend stairs.
Capability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.
Proficiency in operating computers, copiers, and other office equipment as needed.
