Position Overview:
The Indiana University School of Medicine and IU Health Physicians is actively seeking a skilled burn and general plastic surgeon to enhance our esteemed faculty. The ideal candidate will focus on both pediatric and adult burn care while also being proficient in general reconstructive plastic surgery.
Clinical Responsibilities:
This role encompasses a balanced combination of pediatric and adult burn surgery at two premier Level 1 trauma centers. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to engage in clinical practice and research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and educating future plastic surgeons.
Facilities:
The Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Hospital is recognized as the only adult burn program in Indiana accredited by the American Burn Association. This facility features a 15-bed inpatient burn unit equipped with ICU capabilities, specialized burn operating rooms, and comprehensive outpatient services. Annually, the center manages over 300 admissions and more than 3,100 outpatient visits, providing extensive care for over 900 unique burn patients.
At Riley Hospital for Children, the Speedway Burn Unit stands as the only pediatric burn program in Indiana verified by the American Burn Association. This unit includes a 10-bed facility and conducts approximately 2,400 outpatient visits each year, with dedicated advanced practice providers supporting daily patient care and burn reconstruction coordination.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Plastic Surgery, with completion of a fellowship in burn surgery
- Critical Care fellowship is recommended but not required
- Passion for teaching residents and fellows, along with a commitment to research
- Eligibility for licensure in Indiana
