Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Specialist to join our team at The Bizzell Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, conducting, and supervising a wide range of leisure-time activities for students, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and conduct recreational activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, and other events.
  • Supervise and chaperone students during off-Center trips and ensure necessary funds are available.
  • Maintain a stocked first aid kit and ensure recreational equipment is in good working order.
  • Assist in the recruitment of volunteers and supervise and direct any volunteer personnel assigned to the recreation area.
  • Project a positive self-image and encourage enthusiastic participation in recreation programs.
  • Submit time sheets and other reports in a timely manner and according to Center policy.
  • Assist with and train student leaders according to Center policy.
  • Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  • Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) Bizzell policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
  • Demonstrate and abide by The Bizzell Group's core values and operating principles.
  • Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participate in PRH-mandated staff training.
Requirements
  • Effective Communication: Presents information clearly and concisely, confirms correct interpretation of information, and demonstrates professional non-verbal body language.
  • Organization of Work: Handles multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrates decision-making, flexibility, and problem-solving, and implements key principles of time management, task allocation, and priority assignment.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates professional interpersonal skills, abides by The Bizzell Group's Healthy Workplace Environment policy, and acts as a team player.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Computer Literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of recreation activities, games, sports, arts and crafts, etc.
  • Minimum of one to two years of related experience and/or training, with one year of related experience working with youth and young adults.
  • Associate of Arts Degree, preferably in a related field.
  • Valid State Driver's License; valid Commercial Driver's License Class B CDL with passenger endorsements. Lifeguard certificate preferred.
