Job DetailsEstimated Salary: $95,000 per year (based on 40 hours/week, 10 hour shifts)
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Ensure the cath lab environment is ready for procedures by maintaining sterile equipment and tools.
- Verify patient information and consent forms before each procedure.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including setting up monitoring equipment.
- Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure.
- Assisting with Procedures:
- Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and other interventional procedures.
- Handle sterile instruments and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
- Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests.
- Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
- Administer medications under physician direction.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Monitor patients for immediate complications after the procedure.
- Assist in transferring the patient from the procedure table to recovery.
- Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
- Provide post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
- Equipment Management and Maintenance:
- Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments.
- Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery.
- Order necessary supplies and manage inventory.
- Assist in the calibration of equipment.
- Patient Monitoring and Safety:
- Continuously monitor the patient's vital signs during the procedure.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient information and procedures.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
- Monitor the catheter insertion site for signs of complications.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with cardiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions and provide input.
- Assist in evaluating the results of diagnostic tests.
- Education and Training:
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing education and certification programs.
- Educate patients about their condition and the procedure they are undergoing.
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff or students.
- Quality Control and Compliance:
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Ensure all procedures and documentation meet hospital policies and industry regulations.
- Participate in regular performance audits.
