Product Development Research ScientistKent Corporation, a leading manufacturer of pure alcohol, maltodextrins, starches, and co-products for the animal nutrition industry, is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join their Creative Solutions Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving the development of new products and providing operational support to Kent Corporation.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop a deep understanding of chickpea and corn processing techniques to support the development of new products and existing product operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute bench, pilot, and production plant trials.
- Support new product development through the design and execution of experiments, including laboratory testing and data analysis.
- Characterize new and existing products through laboratory testing and the utilization of outside labs.
- Record data and observations in an electronic lab notebook and analyze data using basic statistical methods.
- Interpret data to provide conclusions and recommendations for product development, problem-solving, and continuous product improvement.
- Masters degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Food Science, Grain Science, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in laboratory and food processing settings, preferably in a university and/or food industry environment.
- Experience conducting experiments, including experimental design, lab work, and statistical analysis.
- Strong background in general, organic, and carbohydrate chemistry.
- Fundamental knowledge of macronutrient characteristics.
- Understanding of food ingredient interactions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude and motivation to pursue technical challenges.
Limited travel may be required for trade shows and career fairs.
