Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security and Maintenance Technician to join our team at Masonicare at Mystic. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and maintenance of our premises, providing excellent customer service to residents and their families, and contributing to a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a secure environment for residents, employees, and visitors, and protect building assets and premises.
  • Complete rounds to maintain the facility in a safe and clean manner.
  • Provide prompt, courteous service to residents and their families with a positive attitude.
  • Ensure common areas are clean and presentable, including emptying trash receptacles and picking up litter.
  • Break down and set up for events and meetings as requested.
  • Respond to fire alarms, calls for aid, and other emergencies at Masonicare, following described procedures in the Fire/Disaster plan and departmental policy and procedures.
  • Conduct preventative rounds of buildings, plant operations equipment, and premises to prevent fire, thefts, vandalism, and intruders.
  • Monitor conduct of visitors on campus and confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
  • Escort employees and visitors to parking areas on request.
  • Respond to incidents/accidents, documenting same using prescribed departmental forms and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to nursing staff as needed.
  • Secure and/or unlock offices and buildings, and secure resident valuables or lost and found articles.
  • Notify supervisor, police, or fire department when situations warrant.
  • Assist in clearing and maintaining clear areas of egress from snow or other debris.
  • Attend meetings as required and participate in mandatory in-service education programs.
  • Help create a safe work environment by following safety guidelines to prevent injuries to staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Adhere to departmental dress code and present a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully with adult and older residents/patients, recognizing their age, cultural diversity, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
Requirements
  • High School or GED
  • 6-12 months experience in security operations or in a general maintenance role
  • Able to handle emergency situations, handle multiple demands, and possess interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English
