Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Veterinary Hospital Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the clinic(s), ensuring both the financial stability and emotional well-being of the organization while aligning with its objectives and mission. This role involves delegating responsibilities to achieve clinic targets and supervising support staff to guarantee task completion, while also being prepared to engage directly with the team as necessary. As a leadership position, the successful candidate will be expected to provide guidance, direction, and, when needed, corrective measures. The Hospital Manager will also address and mediate interpersonal staff conflicts and act as the primary communicator for information dissemination among team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews for prospective employees.
  • Assess and provide feedback to current staff members.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing training programs.
  • Manage work schedules for clinic personnel.
  • Utilize veterinary technician skills such as patient admissions, surgical monitoring, medication/vaccine administration, and intravenous blood draws.
  • Plan, organize, and implement various programs.

  • Prepare and manage the clinic's budget.
  • Generate accurate reports promptly.
  • Implement a Safety Management Program, including regular inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate the core values of the organization both on and off the job.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience (experience in animal care is advantageous).
  • Possess veterinary technician skills, including patient admissions, surgical monitoring, medication administration, and intravenous blood draws.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be at least 25 years old to meet insurance requirements and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to analyze processes for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capable of working under stress and pressure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability in dealing with various individuals.

Licensing Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and successful completion of a DMV check.
