Department Overview:
The Transmission Development, Policy & Contracts (TDP&C) department plays a crucial role in advocating for PGE in regional transmission forums and committees. This team is responsible for OASIS administration and the development of OATT contracts, including interconnections, while ensuring compliance with the OATT regulations.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Production Cost Modeling Engineer to contribute to our mission. In this role, you will implement strategic transmission objectives, including support for Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) and Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM) initiatives. You will also enhance transmission analysis for our Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), assist in financial assessments for regional transmission investments, and facilitate comprehensive west-wide analyses to bolster PGE's advocacy efforts with regional partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Standards: Stay updated on cutting-edge engineering practices and apply professional knowledge to various assignments. Engage in the evaluation of regional transmission opportunities using production cost modeling software and contribute to economic modeling for FERC Long-Term Transmission Planning compliance.
- Engineering Production: Prepare a range of moderately complex engineering deliverables and lead smaller production teams.
- Project Coordination: Assign tasks and coordinate with internal and external team members on projects, providing professional guidance in executing project tasks.
- Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes, and assist in mentoring and recognition efforts.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
- Experience: For intermediate level, typically two or more years in engineering with intermediate knowledge of transmission planning is expected. For entry level, typically two or fewer years in engineering.
- Certifications: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is strongly preferred for intermediate level.
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering and economic principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering deliverables and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of electric market dynamics and forecasting tools.
- Strong skills in predictive modeling and analytics.
Ability to adhere to schedules, meet deadlines, and effectively collaborate within a team environment. The role may require occasional travel within the service territory and the ability to work in various environments, including office and field settings.
