General Overview of Responsibilities
Engages in advanced human services work aimed at supporting and assisting clients with various personal, social, health, mental health, and economic challenges. Responsibilities include investigating neglect allegations, interviewing clients, assessing needs, formulating service plans, managing cases, maintaining documentation, preparing reports, and other related tasks as assigned. Work is conducted under the limited supervision of a designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

* Collaborates on various treatment approaches to address and resolve challenging family dynamics to secure stable placements for children.
* Develops and implements service plans tailored to address needs in areas such as physical and mental health, housing, and referrals for counseling services.
* Interprets relevant laws, policies, and regulations pertinent to the role.
* Conducts home assessments and visits for ongoing cases; provides testimony in legal proceedings.
* Continuously evaluates client and family needs and formulates suitable treatment strategies.
* Coordinates placements in daycare facilities, foster homes, and adoptive settings.
* Refers cases to child protective services as necessary.
* Prepares various reports and correspondence; submits required documentation to state authorities; maintains accurate records and files; inputs data into the agency's computer systems.
* Collaborates with other agency services and programs.
* Reviews foster care situations; recruits families for child foster care; investigates funding opportunities.
* Offers support to women facing unplanned pregnancies; assists in connecting them with maternity homes and funding resources.
* Reviews intervention strategies and staffing with families and supervisors to assess progress towards established goals.
* Evaluates parental capacity to meet children's physical and emotional needs.
* Aids individuals and families in arranging placements through interviews to ascertain client requirements; assists with necessary application processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; thorough understanding of applicable local, federal, and state laws, rules, and regulations; comprehensive knowledge of community resources; proficiency in report preparation and correspondence; adept in using standard office equipment and software (e.g., WIRM, NC ID, NC MUST, and NC TRACKS); ability to organize and prioritize tasks while interpreting laws and policies; capacity to multitask; competence in arithmetic calculations; ability to apply governmental accounting practices in financial record maintenance; skill in budget assessment and analysis; effective communication skills in both oral and written forms; ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, court personnel, law enforcement, mental and medical health providers, social agencies, and the public.

Physical Requirements
This position requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; regular tasks involve speaking or hearing and using hands for various activities; frequent repetitive motions; occasional standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; reaching with hands and arms; and visual acuity for detailed inspections. Vocal communication is necessary for conveying detailed instructions; hearing is essential for normal conversations and receiving information. Work may occasionally involve exposure to various environmental conditions and requires adherence to safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field, coupled with moderate experience in social work within a community context, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
Completion of necessary certification and training as mandated by the County within specified timeframes for the position, based on the area of assignment. A valid driver's license is required.
