Position Overview

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse plays a crucial role within the Emergency Services team, collaborating closely with the Emergency Department Physician to deliver timely and appropriate care to all patients presenting for treatment. This position requires the ability to manage patient flow effectively during high-demand periods, respond to various challenges with professionalism, prioritize tasks based on urgency, and achieve optimal outcomes for our patient population.

Work Environment

Our facility is dedicated to providing quality nursing care and actively engages in performance improvement initiatives that lead to positive patient outcomes. The ED RN may also support other nursing areas as needed based on patient census.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a structured compensation philosophy with 13 pay increments reflecting up to 30 years of relevant experience. The compensation range for this position is $46.48 - $66.27 per hour, along with a sign-on bonus of $5,000.00.

Employment Status and Shift Details

This is a full-time position with night shift requirements.

Qualifications

Education: Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program and possess a current RN license in California. Certifications in CPR, ACLS, and PALS are mandatory, with additional certifications such as TNCC, ENPC, MICN, CEN, NRP, and STABLE being preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in an Emergency Department or critical care setting within the last five years is preferred.

Skills and Competencies: The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the nursing process, including administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating care plans, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and providing education to patients and their families. Successful completion of competencies for this role is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently triage all patients seeking medical assistance, assigning appropriate Emergency Severity Index (ESI) acuity levels.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trauma triage criteria.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to compliance for treating all patients.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance for patient transfers.
  • Regularly participate in system updates at the beginning of each shift.
